We expected it – and it came. The draft of Canadian junior competitions was the largest number of Czech names in history, clubs chose 35 of our talents. Two -thirds of them can head to WHL.
The primary reason for such a number and an increase from last year’s 23 names this time is not a youth work in the Czech environment or the level of junior extraleague, although it still does not evlocate considerably due to many dozen players missing in the system.
This time a great interest goes to a fundamental change in the rules of CHL: while the clubs could still deploy at most two foreigners, they will now have three allowed. And so Import Draft had three rounds instead of two, although about two thirds of the 61 clubs involved did not use the third choice and some or the other. Logically, when they already have youngsters from abroad in their ranks, which they continue to count on.
In recent years, we have become accustomed to the fact that the Czechs are the most sought after the draft. Therefore, it seemed clear that this year’s draft would exceed the historical maximum of 2007, when the clubs of the CHL booked Czech 32 players.
He overcame, though not much – by three.
The leader of the representative eighteen became the draft number one

Another trend has also been confirmed that Czech players are (by far) the greatest interest of the organization from Western Hockey League, where 24 fellow people have appeared last season and two more in the previous season. The WHL clubs have now shown 23 youngsters! With respectful distance follows OHL (eight players), even further QMJHL (four players).
The vast majority of selected hockey players belong to the years 2007 and 2008. The national eighteen can meet after Hlinka Gretzky Cup at preparatory tournaments full of fifteen players! Boy,

Five youngsters worked in Sparta in Prague last season, including Daníček, who can aim to an unprecedented address to the Newfoundland Regiment club. It is a successor organization of Acadie-Bathurst Titan in the Quebek League. Four players “added” Liberec, after three Pardubice and Škoda Plzeň.

Overall, however, it is difficult to estimate how many Czechs really go to CHL. Last year’s 23 drafted players have chosen the departure of sixteen, but some only during the season – and it is appropriate to add that many hockey players did not work out.
