With the participation of just over 150 athletes from different countries, the Dominican Judo (Fedojudo) Federation began the Caribbean camp in multi -purpose of the Olympic shelter.
The camp, which will last one week, has the direction of a body of coaches from different countries.
The president of the Fedojudo, Mr. Gilberto García, considered that the preparation meeting aims to improve the technical aspects of the athletes of Central America and the Caribbean.
“The objective is that we can boost growth and acquire new knowledge to grow the Caribbean judo,” Garcia said during the opening of the camp.
The Judocas who take part in the initiative participated in the Pan American Junior Championship and the Senior Pan American Open that was carried out in the Tony Barreiro Sports Center of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD).
The body of coaches is made up of Leniel Collazo and Ismael Borboña and Héctor Gallosa, from Puerto Rico; Jorge Luis Atencio Ramírez, from Mexico; Just Noda, from Panama, as well as the Dominicans Esteban Méndez, Héctor Mosquea, Junior Gerez, Wanda Díaz, Juan Carlos Jacinto, Rolando Robles and Wilkin Ogando.
The camp will be held every year, at the end of the Junior Pan American Championship and the Senior Pan American Open, according to Fedojudo.
The working days include activity in the morning, as well as in the afternoon, with advanced techniques about judo.
In the opening ceremony of the meeting were also Luisa Martínez, general secretary of the Fedojudo; Leidi Germán, technical director, among others.
