Apple TV+ Docuseries: Iconic College Basketball Team

Published: julio 3, 2025

The women’s basketball team of the University of Connecticut has just achieved its first docuserie. It will be transmitted on Apple TV+.

Apple announced last week a “three -part docuserie that presents the legendary women’s basketball team of the University of Connecticut (UCONN) – the 2025 NCAA National Champions and one of the most iconic female teams in the history of sport”.

It covers “40 years of the historic dynasty of the program under the command of the coach of the Hall of Fame, Geno Auriemma.”

A UCONN publication said that the “documentary reveals the epic narrative of the Uconn path to become the greatest dynasty in the history of female sports, with each episode presenting a mixture of unique file footage, incisive interviews and exclusive access with the Uconn champion team of the 2024-25 season”.

Uconn female basketball fans commented on the publication with enthusiasm, delighted to get a look behind what is needed to win a National Championship.

“The greatest dynasty in the history of sport, male or female,” wrote a person.

Another said: “I just saw this championship game for the hundredth time. I’m glad to have a docuserie to see soon!”

“Well, as I don’t have Apple TV, I’m going to need it on another platform, please. I need this,” said someone else.

Deadline reported that the women’s basketball team in UCONN only had one winning season before the 1985 season. Auriemma assumed the position of chief coach that year, and the team has been winning since then. He has trained iconic players such as Rebecca Lobo, Swin Cash, Sue Bird, Diana Tauurasi, Maya Moore, Tina Charles, Breanna Stewart and the number 1 selection of the WNBA Draft of 2025, Paige Bueckers.

The documentary will have players such as Bueckers, Azzi Fudd, Kaitlyn Chen, KK Arnold and more.

Matthew Hamachek (Tiger) and Erica Sashin (Harry & Meghan) will direct.

“We are delighted to work with Apple TV+ and Skydance Sports in this project that offers a look behind our career for the National Championship that had never been seen before,” said Auriemma, according to Deadline. “This series offers fans an exclusive view of 40 seasons of women’s basketball in UConn, and I am really excited that the public can see all the hard work that this program has built.”

Skydance Sports will produce the docuserie, while Learfield Studios and Brillstein Creative Partners will be the executive producers. It joins the growing list of Apple TV+sports documentaries, which is currently including The Dynsty, a documentary about the New England Patriots, along with documentaries about Stephen Curry, Lionel Messi and looks behind both the 2024 World Series and the Major League Soccer season, according to Sports Illustrated.

There is still no launch date or official title for the Docuserie, so stay tuned to obtain information.
