Ooijer signs a two -year contract in Eindhoven. Between 2013 and 2023, 50-year-old Ooijer was already active in various trainers functions at the club from Eindhoven, including as an assistant trainer at the main force.
“Two years ago I consciously stopped as an assistant trainer at PSV to get out of football for a while,” says Ooijer in a PSV press release. In the meantime, he founded the MarketMix company with his girlfriend Mariëlle.
Who made Ooijer doubt?
Eight Brearnest Stewart, director of football affairs at PSV, eventually made him doubt. “At first I said ‘no’ at his request to become an assistant trainer, because I had intended to let myself rest for a while,” says Ooijer.
“But I promised to think about it. The moment I put down the phone, it immediately started to itch and I had a feeling of: this might be very interesting. Then I sat down with my loved ones around the table and my relatives immediately expressed their support because they saw my eyes starting to shine.”
Bosz spoke extensively with Ooijer
Ooijer then talked to Bosz. “After that all the traffic lights were green. I have a fresh sense and energy to make this a success. Market mix is so good that my full focus can be focused on PSV. After two years outside of football, I am more than ready to get on the field again, and that at the club that is deep in my heart.”
Rob Maas and Theo Lucius are the other assistants of Bosz. Kevin Begois is the goalkeeper coach.
