Vietnamese Badminton at US Open 2025: Duc Phat, Hai Dang & Thuy Linh

Since Duc Phat and Hai Dang have only regularly participated in tournaments of the International Challenge in the past, they did not often have the opportunity to take part in Super 300 tournaments or to take part. This is a good opportunity for the two leading Vietnamese tennis players to gain more experience and hopefully collect many points in the badminton world rankings.

Both are “difficult” in the category, but still have a chance to survive the first round. Nguyen Hai Dang meets Mad Christophersen in the opening game (world ranking place 67). If he defeats this opponent, there is a high probability that “Momota Vietnam” will meet Chou Tienchen in the second round.

As for Le Duc Phat, the army tennis player will meet his Chinese-Canadian opponent Sheng Xiaodong (84th place in the world rankings) in round 1. If he defeated Sheng, Duc Phat will probably meet the former world number one from India, Kidambi Srikananth, in the round of 16.

At this tournament, the Vietnamese badminton legend Nguyen Thuy Linh meets the young Indian Star Tanvi Sharma in the opening game. Thuy Linh is number 2 on the seed list at this year’s US Open and has great chances of going far. After two second places at the German Open (2023 and 2024), she can dream of her first Super 300 title.

After the US Open, the Trio Thuy Linh, Duc Phat and Hai Dang continue a week later at the Super 300 Canada Open, in which Duc Phat and Hai Dang meet in the first round.
