The broadcast rights for the women’s football European Championships are shared by SVT and Viaplay, but to this championship no matches will be shown on TV6 or TV10.
Instead, the new channel is Viaplay Sport that viewers are allowed to turn to when SVT does not stand for production. Viaplay Sport is part of the TV offering at Telia, Telenor, Allente and Sappa.
Tele2’s customerson the other hand, will not have access to Viaplay’s broadcasts via linear TV, but must then pay for an account with the streaming service.
“We currently do not have Viaplay Sport in our range because the conditions Viaplay offered could not be justified without having to raise the price against the customer. This had become too expensive for many customers, especially for a product they have not chosen themselves,” Tele2’s press communicator Fredrik Hallstan writes in a message to Aftonbladet.
Sweden’s European Championship premiere Against Denmark is played on July 4 and will be broadcast in SVT. However, the subsequent group matches against Poland, July 8, and Germany, July 12, are broadcast on Viaplay.
– All operators have been offered the new linear channel Viaplay Sport. Tele2 chose not to take in the channel and now says that it is because they had to raise the price to their customers. However, we can note that the other four operators Telia, Telenor, Allente and Sappa have taken in the Viaplay Sport channel without raising the price, says Viaplay’s sports manager Erik Westberg to Aftonbladet.
The football European Championship runs July 2-27.
