More Than Just Exercise: Community and Fun Take Center Stage

All courses are completely free, with no registration required. Just show up and get moving!

The driving force behind “Sports in the Park” is to introduce people to a variety of sports and encourage a lifelong love of physical activity. As Hugo Polz, managing director of the Aachen EV Hugo Polz Regiosport Association, puts it: Würselen in motion. With sports in the park we want to inspire many people again for sport, because sport is not only competition and discipline, but also fun and community. Think of it as a free agent tryout for your next favorite hobby!

Challenges and Triumphs: securing the Right Coaches

Organizing such a complete program isn’t without its hurdles.hans-Josef Bülles from the Würselen City Sports Association acknowledged the difficulties in recruiting coaches this year. I am grateful and glad that we also have an offer for those interested in sports in 2025.This year it was very difficult for us to recruit coaches. To address this, they’re already brainstorming ways to incentivize coaches for next year, including potential stipends or more flexible scheduling.

Sponsors Step Up: Investing in Community Health

The success of “Sports in the Park” relies heavily on the support of local sponsors. Barmer and Sparkasse are once again lending their support to the initiative. Brigitte Jansen, managing director of Barmer, emphasized the importance of prevention: We are sponsoring the campaign again this year because prevention is notably importent for us. The low -threshold sports offer is accessible to all people, which, in addition to movement in fresh air in nature, also strengthens psyche. We are happy to support health -conscious behavior. it’s like a team owner investing in player progress for long-term success.

thomas Salz from the board of Sparkasse Würselen, represented by Oliver tille, branch manager Würselen, echoed this sentiment: We have been doing this very much for many years. We promote a lot that helps us get better. Sport is an important factor. At the same time, it is about promoting the community: teams, teams, volunteers. This great project fits perfectly.
