On July 6, a Sunday, Santa Maria Soldiers promotes a training session of the female and male Football Flag teams open to the community. The activity takes place from 14h, in the field in front of the pools of the UFSM Physical Education and Sports Center, at the Camobi campus.

The idea of the initiative is to seek reinforcements for the teams. This year, the “Army” girls represented the city in the Gaucho Championship of the sport, in April, in the municipality of Cachoeirinha. In the competition, the squad ended with 5th place after beating the Vallers, Santa Cruz do Sul, by position.

The Flag Football men’s team was implemented in Soldiers last season and, it is noteworthy that from the state from 2024 to 2025, there was evolution. This is because in the team’s debut edition, the result was 6th place. This year, the female did not play Gauchão.
