At the beginning of July 2025 will take place in Saint-Étienne, Saint-Victor-sur-Loire and Rochetaillée the emblematic festival of legends. Carried by the city, the event awaits a total of 7,000 spectators over the five days. During these five days and evenings will be put in the spotlight, as well as concerts of Celtic music.
Celtic and medieval music, but not only …
The festivities will start on Wednesday evening (July 2) with a large concert at the Saint-Charles cathedral. On stage, a trio of international virtuosos recognized in this musical genre: violinist Zoë Conway, guitarist John McIntyre and the instrumentalist specializing in traditional Irish music.
The next evening (July 3) at Park Couriot, a traditional Irish ball will be led by the Shelta & Join The Dance group. An immersion in dance and music in Irish pubs. On Friday 4, and Saturday, July 5, the different music groups will alternate styles.
Celtic, Reagae, Rock, Folk or Punk, The Mulins, The Celtic Social Club but also Brick in Drac will follow one another to introduce Nordic and medieval music. The Legends Festival will end on Sunday (July 6), still in song, with a fireworks display scheduled for 10:30 p.m., directly from the Château de Rochetaillalée.
Plural entertainment
In addition to the different concerts and invitations around traditional Irish Celtic music, the days will be punctuated by different activities for any type of audience. Archery, sword fights, make -up on the face or even manufacture of candles, boredom has no place!
It will also be possible to listen to tales with Patrick Caudal, researcher at the CNRS, but also a musician, and to walk in Rochetaillée and Saint-Victor-sur-Loire to discover the flora and fauna of the local territory. “The walking of the hellish abyss will not take place this year because of the work,” said Anne Chabance, delegate mayor of RocheAillée. For certain activities, a reservation will be necessary (possibility of reserving on the city site, in the space dedicated to the Legends Festival).
A festival thought in an ecological way
Created since 1998, the festival is evolving with its time. This project is punctuated by the desire to make a clean festival, respectful of the environment and the various sites welcoming the event. To get to Rochetaillée or Saint-Victor-sur-Loire, shuttles will be offered since the cars are prohibited-notably in Rochetaillée-. “With this device, several tons of CO2 are saved,” says Marc Chassaubéné, assistant in charge of culture.
It is also possible to access the festival on foot or by bicycle. The short circuit is privileged, especially in terms of catering. The various businesses in the cities concerned will offer local products, such as meat, beer or cheese. “Priority is respect for these natural sites,” explains the assistant.
