On June 22, 2025, the “Baseball Rising Star Challenge” hosted by MLB Major League Baseball ended passionately at the Chongqing Kuda Baseball Training Center. As the third stop after Shenzhen and Beijing, the Chongqing station attracted nearly 100 groups of parent-child families to participate. After two days of fierce competition, the father and daughter star partners of Ran Yukhao and Ran Xinya and Zhang Wei and Zhang Zhanshuo stood out with tacit cooperation and outstanding performance and successfully won the ticket to the national finals.

This Chongqing tournament follows the collaborative spirit of the first two stops, and uses the “star casting nine grid” and “power home run” to test the pitching accuracy and explosiveness of the family partner. During the experience day on June 21, the young players were familiar with the rules and warm up training under the guidance of professional coaches; the official competition on June 22 climaxes were repeated, parents and children worked together to challenge the limits, and the arena cheered continuously.
This event was held at the same time as the Chongqing China Baseball Association Star Rating Evaluation. As an important baseball ability assessment activity in Chongqing this year, the evaluation attracted outstanding young players of all ages in the city to participate, including many main players of the school team and potential rookies. The contestants of the Baseball Rising Star Challenge also participated in this professional evaluation. The players showed solid basic skills and good competitive state on the field, making the entire event both interesting and professional, fully demonstrating the good development trend of Chongqing Youth Baseball.

After many rounds of competition, the father and daughter star team of Ran Yukhao and Ran Xinya reached the top and won the championship. So far, Ran Xinya is the only female player in the Baseball Rising Star Challenge to advance to the finals, showing her extraordinary strength – in the “Star Ejection Nine Grid” session of the Chongqing Station Finals, she scored three amazing results with a full score of 100 points in a row. This little pitcher who usually trains at Kuda proves the infinite possibilities of female players in the baseball field with their strength.
Following the runner-up were the partners of Zhang Wei and Zhang Zhanshuo. Zhang Zhanshuo, who is only 7 years old, is the youngest player in the game. He has maintained a leading lead before the semi-finals and demonstrated a baseball talent that surpasses his age. Although there was a slight mistake in the final, his father Zhang Wei turned the tide with a very long shot of nearly 300 feet, and finally raised the total score of the family to the runner-up position. The father and son jointly performed the wonderful story of “father and son soldier in the battle”.
Both teams have been qualified for exclusive honor medals, event awards and direct access to the 2025 MLB National Finals. They will also have the opportunity to appear on CCTV’s “Battle of the Braves” program to compete with top families in the country for the championship.

With the successful conclusion of Chongqing Station, the 2025 MLB Baseball Rising Star Challenge will be launched in Shanghai from June 28 to 29. After the sub-station competition, the winning families of each station will gather in August to launch an attack on the annual championship on the MLB CUP finals.
