Kirsty Coventry: First Woman to Lead IOC

Kirsty Coventry is since yesterday the new president of the International Olympic Committee. In a solemn act held at the Olympic House of Lausana, with Reason for the Olympic Day, Thomas Bach, outgoing president, gave the relay to former Zimbabuense. He did it by delivering the gold key of the Olympic house. Coventry, 41, thus becomes the tenth president of the top world sports agency, which will be directed for the first time by a woman and by a person of African origin. A new era at the IOC, who fired Bach with honors, after serving a twelve -year mandate. The German ceases in its functions, but will continue as an honorary president, with a lifetime.
