The Belgian Football Association (KBVB) made a loss of 1.28 million euros last year. After the record loss in 2023 (10.93 million euros) and 5.23 million euros less loss than expected, the 2024 football association sees as an “important turning point”.

The estimated loss in 2024 amounted to 6.57 million euros. Thanks to a “determined” reaction, the football association believes, the red figures are not that high.

“This result reflects the clear will of the new management to restore the financial health of the federation sustainably, through both temporary actions and structural reforms. At the same time, full financial management was thoroughly revised, with considerable progress in terms of planning, control and transparency.”

The KBVB also believes they have laid the foundations for a more stable future. CEO Peter Willems is satisfied. “In 2024 we took major steps towards making our federation financially healthy.”

“Financially heavy and excessive contracts were stopped, difficult but necessary choices were made, and the close cooperation with football Flanders and the ACFF was an essential lever to improve the situation.”

“I want to explicitly thank the wings as well as the staff of the KBVB for their efforts and efforts,” he continues. “The results are encouraging, but the work is not yet finished. We continue our efforts and are confident that we can sustainably strengthen the financial health of the KBVB.”
