Josef Bican: 805 Goals & Football Records

Football historian Roman Jašek after a forty -year work on complete statistics of the highest competition has received official publication. The main architect of a unique database introduced a project at the headquarters of the Football Association of the Czech Republic (FAČR), which launched statistics on its website on the occasion of the anniversary of the hundred years after the start of the league. According to Jašek, the overview of all seasons, matches, clubs and players is complete, among other things, the often discussed number of goals of the legendary cannon Josef Bican will not change.

“There are all 19,656 matches with everything that belongs to it. Goals, sets, alternation, yellow cards, exclusion. Each player has his card with the statistics and records he has achieved in the league. This is only England, but paid. Italy and Spain still have it on private platforms, but only we and England have such an official union database, “Jašek told reporters.

The publishing of the database was announced today by the representatives of the FAČR headed by chairman David Trunda, who also christened the book 100 years of the League from the publishing house Práh. On the basis of detailed statistics, the publication on 312 pages maps the history of the highest competition since its inception in 1925 to the present. The authors are in addition to Jašek Zdeněk Zikmund and Aleš Jandač.

“The whole anabasis lasted 40 years. As a twelve -year -old boy, I started writing to squares, later I found out gradually until 1925. In 2010, I had the database completed and thanks to the connection with the CS football platform, owned by Aleš Jandač, and the sale of the license for his system we managed to get it to the Association’s website. And then we just fed my data, “Jašek described.

“I’ve always wanted to go the way of the association that will give it a hallmark of officiality. So that no one could say that someone suck it out of my finger. That’s the most valuable that FAČR took it for its. The database will really have a sound in the world, “ pointed.

According to Jašek, the worst sought information from the 50s. “Even the First Republic is easier. Fortunately in Slovakia they were not so far with the building of communism, so there are newspapers full of football,” The FAČR Commission member for history and statistics stated.

In connection with the shooting performances of the cannons of Cristian Ronald of Portugal and Argentine Lionela Messi, it has often been discussed in recent years whether the legend of Prague Slavia holds a world record in the number of goals. According to Jašek, Bican scored 805 competitions, so he lags behind both stars of contemporary football.

“Bican scored 805 goals, there is no longer a train. This is also operated by the International Federation of Football Histors and Statistics, where I sent it officially for the FAČR, “said Jašek.

“The time at that time is difficult in the fact that the players did not have the numbers on their backs. Every journalist who recorded a goal scorer scored players in memory. Bican was of course known, there will be a minimum, but there are cases where different goal scorers are listed.
