Giants‘ Buster Posey Shakes Up Roster: Fan Favorite DFA’d Amid Offensive Slump

SAN FRANCISCO – Buster Posey, now at the helm as the Giants’ president of baseball operations, has made his boldest moves yet, signaling a clear shift in strategy as the team struggles to find its offensive rhythm.

Wade’s 2021 season, where he hit .253 with 18 home runs and 56 RBIs, earning him the Willie Mac Award, feels like a distant memory. Prior to this season, he boasted a .767 OPS (115 OPS+) with the Giants, showcasing his potential.

posey acknowledged Wade’s past contributions, stating, We’ve been as consistent with him as we have been because of the track record… I’ve watched this guy play for quite a while now and I know that it’s in there. However, the team’s need for immediate improvement outweighed sentimentality.

Dominic Smith, 29, joins the Giants after posting a .782 OPS in 45 games with the Yankees’ Triple-A affiliate.He brings eight seasons of major league experience, primarily with the Mets, where he recorded a career.717 OPS.

daniel Johnson,29,a Vallejo native,gets his chance after a strong showing with Triple-A Sacramento,where he had an .846 OPS. He’s played 36 games in the majors across three seasons.

Andrew Knizner, 30, will serve as Patrick Bailey’s backup catcher. He has six major league seasons under his belt, mostly with the St. Louis Cardinals, where he posted a .596 OPS and -21 defensive runs saved.
