Fougères Badminton Coach: Rape Charges & Minor Victims

A judicial investigation was opened in mid-May 2025 by the gendarmerie of Fougères, in connection with the Vitré research brigade. She targets a 32 -year -old man, coach in the Badminton Club of the Pays de Fougères (BCPF). He is suspected of rapes on minors, sexual assaults, pornographic solicitations, voyeurism, detention of child pornographic images and corruption of minors.

The facts would have taken place between 2022 and May 2025. According to the Rennes prosecutor, the investigation highlighted extreme gravity behaviors, among which attacks during the sleep of young boys, requests for bare photos, taking clichés in the showers, or the proposal made to some to sleep naked with him. A child pornographic video was also found on his phone.

The survey still underway, other potential victims

The man was placed in police custody, then presented to a judge on May 28. He recognized the facts and was indicted, before being placed in pre -trial detention. To date, six victims have been identified, all minors at the time of the facts. Several of them filed a complaint.

The club claims to have known nothing before the coach’s suspension, decided on May 16 by the French Badminton Federation. BCPF officials organized an information meeting with members at the end of the month to deal with the situation. Founded in 2003, the club has nearly 420 licensees spread over five municipalities in the north of Ille-et-Vilaine. The questioning coach intervened with young people in several of these branches.

The investigation continues. The prosecution calls for caution and compliance with the current procedure. Other victims could make themselves known in the coming weeks.
