In the 2025/’26 season, the pilot renewed rules will be continued with the JO13 and JO14 (category B) and the MO13 (category A and B). There will be an important change compared to earlier seasons: from now on, one is taken by dribbling in instead of kicking. This is in line with the match form 8 against 8 and and are already used to younger players.
No sequel O15
The pilot does not continue at JO15 and MO15. Research and reactions from players, trainers and referees show that this group is less positive about the renewed rules.
About the research
In season 2024-2025, four renewed rules were tested for JO13 to JO15 (category B) and MO13 and MO15 (category A and B). Twice during the season, players and trainers completed a survey. Verdangingen have also given extra feedback through a sounding board group.
What came out?
Generally
- Players from O13 and O14 are positive.
- Players from O15 are less enthusiastic.
- A little more goals are scored (on average from 6 to 6.3 per match).
Stepping and dribbling
- Game resumes go faster.
- Players are going to play more purposefully after a resumption of the game.
- O14 and O15 sometimes find it difficult to dribble because they were used to the throw -in.
Time penalty
- 70 percent of the players think the time step is fair.
- Players find it unfair that with a direct red card the team of the player who received red can contribute another player after the ten minutes time penalty, so that they can play with eleven players again.
- O13 players prefer time penalties and flying above the yellow card.
Zelfpass
- The self -pass at a free kick ensure faster game.
- More players take initiative themselves.
- Older players prefer a ‘normal’ free kick.
Swap
- Change flying leads to fairer playing time and less delay.
- Referees sometimes have difficulty keeping an overview.
Conclusion
The renewed rules fit well with the way of playing O13 and O14. The game becomes sportier, faster, fairer and players are more active. There are clearly more objections to the O15, especially against the dribbling and flying changing. That is why the pilot will only take place in 2025/’26 at O13 and O14. To further increase the playing pleasure, one adjustment is made: Vooraal is dribbled instead of pasaging.
