EA Sports announced the return of his university basketball video games in a publication on social networks on Monday.
“Bring the madness. Let’s run it again,” said the publication, along with a foreground of a video game basketball ball with the EA Sports logo stamped on it.
The advance appeared just hours after the extra point website reported the possible return of the series.
EA Sports last published a university basketball video game in 2009, “NCAA Basketball 10”. This video game was suspended due to lack of sales and, shortly after, the company’s university football series was suspended as a result of a demand for the use of images of unpaid players in the game.
In the era of rights of name, image and likeness (NIL), university football returned to the world of video games in “College Football 25” of EA Sports, leaving many fans wondering if basketball would have a similar rebirth.
Extra Points obtained a memorandum dated June 26, 2025 that revealed that College Licensing Company (CLC) had published a proposal application for a university basketball video game last year. Five companies expressed interest and three presented offers, but CLC opted for the proposal of EA Sports.
The proposal said that 2028 was the objective date for the launch of the first game.
