Chelsea Beat Benfica: Champions League Update

Chelsea FC has neither been stopped by a very long interruption due to bad weather nor from a late balance and has moved into the quarter-finals of the club World Cup. In a European round of 16, the English top team defeated the Bayern Schreck Benfica Lisbon with 4: 1 (1: 1, 0: 0) after extra time and will be dealing with the Brazilian football record champion SE Palmeiras in the next round. He had previously beat Botafogo Fr from Rio de Janeiro 1-0 (0-0) after extra time.

In Charlotte, Reece James (64th) shot the London in the lead. The captain converted a free kick directly, Benfica goalkeeper Anatoli Trubin had apparently expected a cross and looked unhappy in the shot into the short corner. Afterwards a storm moved out in the immediate vicinity, in the 86th minute the game was interrupted. The players had to go from the field, via the stadium boxes, the spectators were asked to leave their places. The game was only continued almost two hours later – Angel di Maria (90.+5) converted a penalty and brought Benfica into extra time.

Gianluca Prestiani Lisbon weakened in this when he saw the yellow-red card (92.). In majority, Christopher Nkunku (108th), Pedro Neto (115th) and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (117.) shot the Londoners into the next round.
