After more than two years of absence due to a thorough renovation, FC Barcelona returns to its own stadium on 10 August, the famous Camp Nou. It will be a partial reopening during the Joan Gamper trophy, with numerous activities for the fans.
Barça emphasizes that the renovation has not yet been fully completed and that the renovation in the meantime will continue in different places in the stadium, such as the new third ring.
“With this return, FC Barcelona is taking a symbolic and emotional step to the future,” says a press release on the club’s website. “It is an opportunity to feel again and to build on the Barça of tomorrow.”
The major renovation of the stadium dating from 1957 began in 2023. Since then, Barça played his matches in the Olympic Stadium. When the renovation is completed, the capacity of the stadium must be enlarged from 99,000 to 105,000 seats.
The costs of the renovation are reportedly 1.5 billion euros. The ailing club borrowed that money from a group of investors.
