Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. (7) catches a pass during the second mandatory minicamp at Miller Electric Center Wednesday, June 11, 2025 in Jacksonville, Fla.
For his rookie season, Brian Thomas Jr. was one of the few satisfactions among the Jaguars. The receiver signed an impressive campaign with 87 receptions, 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns, statistics that earned him a selection in Pro Bowl from his first year. And according to the staff, this is only the beginning.
A leader in the making
Edgar Bennett, receiver coach in Jacksonville, told the Florida Times-Union that Thomas was fully involved in his progression, both on the field and outside:
“He has clearly taken a leading role, he speaks more. And it is not only verbally: he also shows the example by his actions. It’s a way to pull the whole group upwards. »»
The receiver, for his part, said he wanted to assume this role, in particular to help the Rookie Travis Hunter, which tries the ambitious bet to play both receiver and cornerback, a double role extremely rare in the modern NFL.
Impeccable work ethics
Bennett insists: despite his bright beginnings, Thomas remains animated by a thirst for constant progression.
“He does not rest on his laurels. It is simply not in its nature. He wants to be the best, and he works every day in this direction. Whether indoors, in training, when heating up or in the bodybuilding room, it is fully. »»
With Brian Thomas Jr. and Travis Hunter, the Jaguars think they are holding a duet of exceptional young talents, as workers as good. If their development continues at this rate, the future could be very promising on the side of Jacksonville.
