With fifteen teams, including half of the BCA (Badminton Club d’Auray), the plumettes were full this weekend at the Le Verger sports complex. Saturday and Sunday, more players and players of Badminton de Brec’h, Muzillac, Lorient, Baud, and Auray, chained 240 games in doubles.
A competition only in double and team, it does not run the streets. For the moment, the BCA is the only Club in Morbihan to organize this kind of “competition”. Despite competition from the Trégunc tournament, and a lack of visibility due to a problem on the promotion software (an update will be carried out in September), the feathered have attracted many badists to Auray. If badminton is first of all an individual sport, it is also played in double and team. This format brings a certain group cohesion. When you don’t play, you encourage it. The goal is to win his team, ”said President Malaury Niquel.
« On encourage »
“It also promotes exchanges since we do not have to be from the same club to play together. Nor to be of the same level … We can play with partners with whom we would never have played because there is too much level difference, “he continues. “In usual tournaments, it is more personal objective. There we encourage … And then, it’s cool to participate in doubles, ”adds Dorys. He started badminton ten years ago with Jacques Josselin then coach. Like her neighbor, Nathalie, who also appreciates the atmosphere and the formula of the plumettes.
Team tournaments work well in other departments but remain confidential in Morbihan. The Alréens hope to give ideas to other clubs in the department. In any case, they continue hoping to perpetuate the formula. On the lookout for all the new features, they would like to organize other tournaments.
Appreciated afterworks
For the next season, they are entitled to four events. There will be the Alreian feathers and the feathers, that’s for sure. Afterwards, Malaury and his new team boosted thoroughly, have the choice. Last year the BCA proposed the evening feathers. “During these afterwork, the participants chained three games during the week. It is a much appreciated formula, ”says the president. Will there be two additional afterwork next season? Perhaps … because BCA officials are always looking for novelty. Laura, the tournament specialist at the club, has disgusted the “Intergeneres” format.
“There are always double ladies, mixed and men. For the simple it is perhaps girl against guys, it all depends on the composition of the team, ”explains Laura seduced by the idea. “It is less formal than for classic tournaments and there are a number of matches guaranteed,” she concludes
