► Update 7 p.m. The vehicle was found burned, between Brienon-sur-Armançon and Migennes, the sentry indicates. The gearbox and the engine have disappeared. The club is looking for a solution for a replacement vehicle, as the national championships approaches.

“It’s catastrophic for us”deplores François Degrange, president of the archery section at the sentry of Brienon-sur-Armançon, in the Yonne. This morning of June 26, he discovered that the club’s vans had been stolen. “It happened at night. They smashed the gate with the truck”he explains.

This nine -seater van was used for the movements of athletes, “Young people, adults, disabled”. “We had to use it for the French Para-Archery Championships in Calais on July 12 and 13. Next week, we are organizing an event with us, we wait 1000 people in three days, we will not be able to use the truck to move on site”regrets François Degrange.

The flight took place at the club, rue Pasteur in Brienon-sur-Armançon. Glass debris have been discovered on site. “We had already been robbed of arcs, but a vehicle is the first time it happens to us”adds François Degrange. The Sentinel club filed a complaint this Thursday afternoon with the Yonne gendarmerie.

A recognized club in its discipline, the Sentinel de Brienon notably won two titles of European club champion. It was here that the Olympic Archère Bérengère Schuh made her weapons, she who won the bronze medal by teams at the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008. The Icaunaise also won several gold medals in the national and world championships.
