The KBL season might potentially be over, capped by Changwon LG’s historic championship, but the off-season is already heating up. All eyes are on the upcoming free agency period, promising a whirlwind of activity and potential blockbuster deals.

A staggering 53 players are set to become free agents in 2025,setting the stage for intense competition and possibly record-breaking contracts. This year’s class is particularly intriguing, featuring multiple MVP-caliber talents and seasoned veterans.

Leading the pack is forward Ahn Young-joon, fresh off a stellar season that saw him lead Seoul SK to the regular season title and a deep playoff run. Ahn Young-joon’s performance has drawn comparisons to players like LeBron James, known for their all-around impact on the game.

Ahn Young-joon’s versatility is what makes him so valuable. He can score, rebound, and create for others, said one KBL analyst.

Ahn Young-joon was crowned regular season MVP after averaging a career-high 14.2 points and 5.9 rebounds across all 52 games, playing an average of 33 minutes and 25 seconds. His scoring and rebounding numbers ranked third among all domestic players, solidifying his status as a premier talent. The KBL’s free agency process is structured to ensure a fair and competitive market. From June 3rd to 5th, players who haven’t reached an agreement can recieve letters of intent from interested teams. If a player receives multiple offers, thay have the freedom to choose their preferred destination. Though, if they only receive one offer, they are obligated to sign with that team.

Players who don’t receive any letters of intent will have the opportunity to renegotiate with their former team from June 6th to 9th.
