Local grocery Store Serves Up Ace for Youth Badminton Program

In a move that’s sure to be a smash hit with young athletes, Meny Østervrå, a local grocery store, has stepped up to provide crucial funding for the Øvi Badminton club.The donation, facilitated through the grocery pool, will allow the club to replace worn-out equipment, ensuring a brighter future for aspiring badminton stars.

Allan Jensen, the merchant at Meny Østervrå, understands the importance of community support firsthand. As an avid badminton player himself, Jensen recognized the club’s need and saw an possibility to make a difference. I thought I could give a little help through our opportunity to seek funding in the grocery pool, Jensen stated, highlighting the store’s commitment to local initiatives.

Brian Andersen,chairman of Øvi Badminton,expressed his gratitude and surprise at the generous donation of DKK 10,000. We are not so big a department, so we have had some talk back and forth about how to handle the expense, Andersen explained. Our season is on our way to its end, but now we are ready with new networks, and also new rackets and balls for the upcoming season that will start again after the summer holidays. This injection of funds is a game-changer, allowing the club to focus on developing young talent rather than worrying about equipment costs.

The grocery store has previously supported Torslev School, Bødkergården, Nørre Vesterskov, and Østervrå Eldercenter, demonstrating a consistent commitment to improving the lives of local residents.
