Polievka’s Hungarian Odyssey: Can a Single Goal Turn the Tide for the Slovakian Striker?

He did manage two cup goals, but his league form remained elusive until the 23rd round clash against Zalaegerszeg. In the dying moments of the game, Polievka finally found the back of the net, salvaging a 1-1 draw.

Early Promise, Frustrating Drought

Kövesdi noted Polievka’s promising performances during pre-season.His play in preparation gave us a reason for optimism. we have seen that he is moving well, has an excellent overview on the pitch, is fast and can dribble, he explained.

Polievka initially featured in the starting lineup, playing as a customary centre-forward. However, the presence of Marin Jurina, a bosnian international, intricate matters. Though, there was a better legionnaire from Bosnia Marin Jurina, who can hold the ball, Kövesdi clarified, implying Jurina’s hold-up play gave him an edge.

However, the change in position didn’t yield the desired results. Somehow he didn’t fit,he didn’t get the balls he needed,and then he was already like a cursed ice creammaker from a popular Hungarian television series,which he always tried incredibly,but he never succeeded, Kövesdi said,using a local analogy to illustrate Polievka’s misfortune.

A Divided Fan Base

Polievka’s goal drought led to a split among MTK fans. Some questioned the wisdom of the transfer, while others remained optimistic, believing in his potential.

He got a chance just because there were many players missing. In the previous period he was not available because his wife was born, so it was arduous to estimate how physically prepared, Kövesdi noted, highlighting the circumstances surrounding Polievka’s recent opportunities.

This time he played similarly as in previous matches, in which he also performed good performance, but he finally fell there. After that goal, it was clear from his facial expression that he had a great tension, Kövesdi added, emphasizing the relief Polievka felt after scoring.

Looking ahead, MTK faces Nyíregyháza in the next round, and Polievka is likely to feature in the starting lineup due to Rajmund Molnár’s suspension.

I think the soup will start either from the left or as a classic pointed player. The club still trusts him and may be slowly confirmed by this confidence, Kövesdi predicted.

Kövesdi drew a comparison to Fernando Torres’ struggles at Chelsea. I remember that he was welcomed in FC Chelsea as a Messiah and then he waited for long matches for the first goal. But it broke once.I believe it will be Rob’s case. I like him, he’s an smart player, he said, hoping Polievka can follow a similar trajectory.

Kövesdi also revealed that Slovan Bratislava were interested in Polievka, but he remained professional after the move fell through. He is very determined, he can see that he wants very much.Apparently he is trying hard, Kövesdi observed.

Ultimately, Kövesdi believes Polievka will regain his form. He is one of the most expensive players of the cadre and no club wants the dear player to sit only on the bench, he concluded.

While the transfer fee remains undisclosed, Polievka’s market value at the time of the transfer was estimated at €1 million according to Transfermarkt.
