A new era dawns for cycling in Schwerin, as the Radsportzentrum Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania takes shape. this week, the first crucial supports for the state-of-the-art training center on Lambrechtsgrund were installed, a testament to the project’s timely progress.
A cycling Colossus Takes Form
The remarkable structure, a marvel of modern engineering, will stand on 80 stilts, stretching 118 meters long and 68 meters wide.This expansive facility promises to be a premier training ground for aspiring cyclists.
Beyond the Track: Versatility Reigns Supreme
Beyond its dedicated cycling track,the Radsportzentrum boasts a versatile multi-purpose area. This adaptable space can host a range of sports, from handball and volleyball to badminton. During school hours, the inner field will serve the local sports high school.
A spring 2026 Grand Opening anticipated
The completion of this ambitious project is slated for spring 2026. Designed primarily for training, the facility can also accommodate competitions for up to 199 participants.
A Collaborative Effort
The €25 million investment is a collaborative endeavor, with the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania contributing €16.5 million, the federal government €4 million, and the city of Schwerin €4.5 million.

Mayor Rico badenschier highlights the facility’s significance for competitive cycling in Schwerin. “Schwerin has a rich cycling tradition,” he notes, “and the new center will further solidify the region’s position as a premier training ground for future champions.” This new facility will undoubtedly bolster the region’s already strong cycling scene.
