Travis Hunter: Thanks for having me, Jerry. It’s surreal, to be honest. I’ve worked hard to get here, and it’s humbling to see all the support and interest.
Jerry: Let’s dive right in.You’re a dual-threat player, which we haven’t seen in the NFL like this before. Your aspiring goal is to be the number one pick. Are you ready for that kind of pressure?
Travis: Absolutely, Jerry. I’ve faced pressure my whole life, and it’s only made me stronger. I want to be that game-changer for an NFL team, and I’m ready to show them I can handle that responsibility.
Jerry: Some critics argue that your size might be a limitation at the NFL level. You’re 5’10”, which is undersized for a receiver, and your cornerman potential is unproven. How do you respond to that?
Travis: I’ve heard it all before, Jerry. But size doesn’t define speed, agility, or football IQ. I’ve played against bigger athletes my entire life, and I’ve beaten them. I trust my abilities, and I beleive NFL teams will too.
Jerry: Speaking of size, do you think your biggest asset is your speed or your agility? And how do you think that translates to the NFL?
Travis: It’s definitely a combination of both, Jerry. I can run a 4.3 40-yard dash, but it’s my ability to change directions and accelerate out of cuts that sets me apart. I think that’ll translate realy well to the NFL, especially as a slot receiver or a nickel corner.
jerry: Let’s talk about your draft stock. The Titans and Browns are rumored to be interested. Both teams have different plans for you – Titans want you as a corner first,Browns as a receiver. What do you think is the best fit for you?
Travis: I’m just focused on showing off my abilities at the Combine and letting my play do the talking. I’m open to any role that fits the team’s needs, and I’m confident that I can excel on either side of the ball.
Jerry: Now, let’s address the elephant in the room. LSU’s Ja’Marr Chase had aCómo Maurious career, and he was only 7 when he was drafted. Some argue that you could be the next big thing at receiver.Do you compare yourself to him?
Travis: I respect Ja’Marr’s game, but I don’t compare myself to anyone. I’m Travis Hunter, and I’ll make my own mark in the NFL.I want to be the best version of myself, not the next anyone else.
jerry: What about Deion Sanders? He’s the only other player to win the Heisman as a defensive back. Do you see similarities between you two?
Travis: Deion’s a legend, and I definitely try to take notes from his career. But again, I’m not trying to be Deion 2.0. I’m here to create my own path and make my own memories.
