Quebec Games Get Bonus Financial Aid

## Quebec Trois-Rivières games Secure Crucial Funding Boost

The 2025 quebec Trois-Rivières Games, a⁢ major sporting event,‍ have secured a crucial financial lifeline. A ⁤$600,000 boost from the Quebec government will ensure the games’ prosperous⁣ execution.

### Inflationary Pressures Drive Funding⁤ Request

Rising costs, especially in transportation and food, have significantly impacted the games’ budget. The⁣ organization, citing inflation, needed additional funding to ⁢cover these escalating expenses.### Food ‍Costs Drive Budget Increase

The director general, David Labrecque, highlights⁣ the substantial impact of rising meal costs. More then 75,000 meals must ⁢be ⁢served during the competitions, and the increased cost of these meals⁣ is a major factor in the budget increase. “If you just take the ‍food aspect, the budget ‍difference is onyl $450,000, then it’s like that everywhere. So yes, with inflation, we had to redo our calculations,” Labrecque explains.

###⁤ Budget Escalation and Government Response

Initially⁢ estimated at $7 million, the‍ games’ budget has⁤ ballooned to nearly $9 million due to the cost increases. ‍ The organization proactively addressed this shortfall, submitting a funding request to the government in August 2024. “We really studied our figures,⁢ we made a request to the government ⁣that we filed at the end of the summer, in ⁢August. After analysis, the government recognized that our calculations were correct. They thus contributed to the normal proportion to which the government participates in a final,” Labrecque stated.

### Private⁤ Sector partnerships

Beyond government support, the organization is actively engaging the business community for ⁣additional ⁤funding. Discussions are underway⁣ with private sector partners to complete the financial ⁢picture.⁤ “The answer is excellent of our business people. Since last summer, we meet people, we have a lot of positive⁣ answers and beautiful announcements come in the spring,” Labrecque added.

### Maintaining Funding⁤ Proportions

The funding contributions⁣ from the government,⁤ city,⁣ and private sector will maintain their existing⁤ proportions.

### Volunteer Recruitment Update

The games have received 500 volunteer applications, exceeding the initial target of 3,000.
