Pistoia Mourns the Loss of Massimo Tuci, A Champion of community
A profound sense of loss hangs over Pistoia following the passing of Massimo tuci, a man whose life was a testament to dedication, commitment, and unwavering passion. His heart, it seems, raced not just on the running trails, but throughout the community he so deeply cherished.
A Life Dedicated to Sport and Service
Tuci’s life was interwoven with the vibrant tapestry of Pistoia’s sporting scene. His love for running, particularly the Pistoia-Abetone trail, was legendary. “He always told me,’it doesn’t matter how much I put in,the important thing is to get to Abetone,'” recalled friend and colleague Enrico Baldi,his voice choked with emotion. This unwavering spirit extended far beyond the running track.
From Factory Floor to Community Leader
Tuci’s career began at AnsaldoBreda, where he worked as an electrician, meticulously testing trains. Later, he transitioned to Hitachi rail, continuing his dedication within the company’s offices. His dedication to the community was evident in his subsequent role as president of Cral Breda, later Cral Hitachi. This position allowed him to nurture the rich tapestry of sports, social, and cultural activities within the organization.
A Legacy of Impact
Tuci’s influence extended beyond the workplace. He spearheaded the revival of the football school at Polisportiva, a testament to his commitment to youth progress. His passion also extended to martial arts, achieving a black belt in Judo, and even amateur basketball, alongside the unforgettable Mario Menicacci. He also championed the Rinkorriluppolo, a food and wine race, originating from Cral Breda and continuing with Cral Hitachi.
A Life of Service and Sacrifice
Beyond his professional and sporting pursuits, Tuci was a dedicated blood donor, a member of the Avis organization in Pistoia. His father,Viviano Tuci,also a prominent figure in the community,had served as president of Cral and a face of avis. Tragedy marked Tuci’s life, including the premature loss of his sister Perla and mother Carla.
A Community in Grief
“The Tuci family has given so much to the community in terms of social commitment, volunteering, and solidarity,” commented Igli Zannerini, president of the Avis of Pistoia. The community grieves the loss of this remarkable individual, whose life touched so manny. His wife Valentina, daughter chiara, sister Stella Marina, and all other family members are surrounded by the community’s heartfelt condolences.

Those wishing to pay their respects to Massimo Tuci can do so at the Green Cross farewell chapels in Viale Fermi, Sant’Agostino, until 3 pm tomorrow.
