Godts Flourishes at Ajax, Learning from Experienced Teammates
Mika Godts, the burgeoning Ajax striker, is thriving in his role, drawing notable support from seasoned teammates. His advancement is a testament to the team’s nurturing environment.
A Masterclass in Calmness
Godts credits Bertrand Traoré as a crucial mentor, emphasizing Traoré’s ability to instill calmness under pressure. “Traoré is the epitome of peace,” Godts remarks. “He’s seen a lot, played for many clubs, and knows what to do in various situations. He reminds me to stay calm when things get tough, ensuring my natural abilities shine through.”
Collective Support System
Godts isn’t solely reliant on Traoré’s guidance. He actively seeks advice from other experienced players, including Henderson and Akpom. ”I try to listen to the veterans,” Godts explains. “Traoré and Akpom play in my position, so I learn a lot from their approach. Henderson, conversely, provides valuable insights into the business side of football.” Akpom, though currently with Lille on loan, previously contributed significantly to the Ajax squad.
Intuition and Dribbling Prowess
Godts’s dribbling skills are a key aspect of his game. This season, in 33 official matches, he’s tallied eight goals and five assists. “I prefer to play intuitively,” he states. “That’s when my best dribbling and assists emerge. Of course, a coach can offer guidance, but ultimately, you have to execute on the field.”
A Season of Growth
Godts’s journey at Ajax showcases a player embracing both technical skill and the wisdom of experienced teammates. His remarkable goal and assist numbers underscore his growing confidence and impact on the pitch.
