moderator (M): Charlie, thanks for joining us today. Let’s dive right into Rangers’ recent troubles. Philippe clement was dismissed after a string of poor results. What,in your opinion, went wrong under his tenure?
Charlie Adam (CA): Thanks for having me. I think it’s critically important to remember that clement took over a team in transition. He had a solid start, but Rangers struggled with consistency throughout his tenure.Perhaps he lacked the necessary time to implement his style of play fully. Also, the critical injury to key players like Ianis Hagi and Ryan Kent didn’t help their cause.
M: Speaking of consistency, you’ve been critical of Rangers’ performancetthroughout the season. Do you think they’ve underperformed given their resources?
CA: Yes,I do. rangers have got an incredibleamount of talent in their squad. They should be challengings for trophies every season. However, they’ve fallen short time and time again. It’s not just about Clement; the board needs to take some responsibility too. They’ve not backed the manager in the transfer market consistently enough.
M: let’s discuss the Kilmarnock match. Rangers were two goals down within 14 minutes. What made you think they could still turn this game around?
CA: Well, I’ve seen Rangers come back from worse deficits under different managers. They’ve always had that never-say-die attitude. and when Dessers came on, I knew there was a chance. He’s got that clinical finishing ability that can change games.
M: And he did, scoring a hat-trick! How much of an impact can Dessers make in the remaining games this season?
CA: He can make a massive impact if he stays fit and consistent. He’s got the quality to score goals that can win games. Rangers need to feed him the ball more if they’re to grind out results.
M: Now, looking at Clement’s legacy, what do you think he brought to Rangers?
CA: Clement brought ambition and resilience. He wanted to play attractive football, which isn’t always easy in the Premiership. He also instilled a fighting spirit in the team, never more evident than in their Europa League run last year.
M: Do you think Barry Ferguson can steady the ship until the end of the season?
CA: Barry knows the club inside out, both as a player and a coach. He’s Inherited a squad that’s low on confidence, but they can still qualify for Europe. It’ll be tough, but if anyone can get them motivated, it’s Barry.
M: Lastly, Charlie, what advice would you give to the Rangers faithful as they look towards the future?
CA: Fans need to stay patient.Change won’t happen overnight. The club needs to appoint the right manager, back him in the transfer market, and give him time to implement his plans. If they do that, Rangers can challenge again.
M: Charlie, thanks for sharing your insights. It’s been an enlightening debate!
CA: My pleasure. Always happy to discuss Rangers!
