Vietnam’s Archery Team aims for Paris 2024 at World Cup
Eight Vietnamese archers are set to compete at the 2024 World Archery Championships in South Korea, taking place from may 21st to 26th. This prestigious event presents a crucial opportunity for the team to secure a coveted spot at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The Vietnamese archery squad has its sights firmly set on qualifying for the women’s team event in Paris. Hopes are particularly high for Dô Thi Anh Nguyêt, a seasoned archer who also represented Vietnam at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Vietnam is aiming for a strong showing at the Paris Games, targeting a delegation of 12 to 15 athletes. Currently, the nation has secured ten Olympic berths across various disciplines: badminton, shooting, swimming, cycling, weightlifting, boxing, canoeing, and rowing.
The upcoming World Archery Championships in South Korea will be a pivotal moment for the Vietnamese team as they strive to add archery to the list of sports Vietnam will be represented in at the Paris 2024 olympics.

Nguyen Van Thanh: Thank you for having me. It’s a pleasure to be here.
Moderator: As everyone knows, the Vietnamese archery team is gearing up for the 2024 World Archery Championships in South Korea. This event presents a critical prospect to secure a spot at the Paris 2024 Olympics. How are the archers preparing, adn what are your expectations for the team’s performance?
Nguyen Van thanh: We’ve been rigorously training for months, focusing on both individual technique and team synchronicity. The team’s morale is high, notably with Dô Thi anh Nguyêt, a veteran of the tokyo 2020 Olympics, leading the charge. Our primary objective is to secure a berth in the women’s team event for Paris. We certainly know it will be a fierce competition, but we are confident in our abilities.
Moderator: That’s fantastic to hear, Coach. Dô Thi Anh Nguyêt surely brings invaluable experience to the team, having competed on the Olympic stage before. how has that experience impacted her fellow teammates, and what role has she played in preparing them for this crucial tournament?
Nguyen Van Thanh: Anh Nguyêt’s experience is a beacon for the younger archers.She offers invaluable insights into handling pressure and performing at the highest level. She’s been instrumental in guiding them, sharing strategies, and fostering a culture of focus and determination within the squad.
Moderator: It sounds like a great team dynamic. Vietnam has already secured berths in several sports for the Paris Olympics. do you feel pressure to add archery to that list, or is the focus solely on representing Vietnam proudly on the world stage?
Nguyen Van Thanh: Of course, we understand the significance of qualifying for the Olympics. It’s a dream for every athlete to represent Vietnam on such a global platform. However, our primary focus is to deliver our best performance at the World Championships.If we do that, the Olympic berth will be a natural consequence.
Moderator: A truly commendable perspective, Coach. Looking ahead, do you feel the recent growth in archery’s popularity in Vietnam will translate into more opportunities for young athletes to pursue the sport professionally?
Nguyen Van Thanh: Absolutely. Ther’s a growing interest in archery across Vietnam, especially amongst young peopel. We are seeing more archery clubs and training facilities popping up, and that’s incredibly encouraging. The recent successes of our national team are inspiring a new generation of archers, and I believe we’ll see even more talent emerging in the years to come.
