UTCAM vaqueros Secure Second Place in Municipal Basketball Tournament
The Technological University of Camargo (UTCAM) Vaqueros basketball team showcased their skills and determination,clinching a well-deserved second place finish in the Municipal Basketball Tournament – Men’s Group B. The tournament, a five-month long competition organized by the Municipal Basketball Committee, culminated on January 15th at the Praxedes Giner Municipal Gymnasium.
comprised of talented student-athletes from diverse academic backgrounds including Industrial Engineering,Business Development,Mechatronics,and Sustainable and Protected Agriculture,the Vaqueros,under the guidance of their coach,Luis Noel Maldonado,fought their way to the playoffs from a fourth-place standing in the general table.
In a thrilling playoff series,the team demonstrated their resilience and teamwork,winning three out of five games to secure their runner-up position. This notable performance highlights the dedication and athletic prowess of the UTCAM Vaqueros, solidifying their place as a force to be reckoned with in the local basketball scene.

Moving from fourth place to the finals is a testament to their resilience and their coach, Luis Noel Maldonado, deserves a lot of credit for guiding them through those crucial playoff games.

Coach Sanchez: In my experience, it all boils down to chemistry. A team with strong bonds and trust in each other can overcome any obstacle. The Vaqueros showcased that unity during their playoff series, constantly supporting each other on and off the court.
Their diverse academic backgrounds, ranging from Industrial Engineering to Sustainable Agriculture, highlight how they bring a unique blend of perspectives and skills to the game. I believe that diversity adds a dynamic element to their gameplay.
