We recently saw some incredible matchups, including Ordu Yeni Final Sports Club‘s dominant victory over Ordu Yurdum SK with a score of 71-12 and Ünye Unknown Soldier Secondary School Sports Club’s hard-fought 50-30 win against ÜNSAD. What are your initial thoughts on the talent displayed in these games?
Hakan Demir: I’m genuinely impressed. At this age, it’s all about fundamentals, passion, and the sheer joy of playing. seeing scores like that, it shows both individual talent and some strong coaching focusing on team play.
Absolutely! these young athletes are the future of Turkish basketball. Do you think initiatives like this league are crucial for developing that future talent?
Hakan Demir: Without a doubt. These leagues provide structured competition,invaluable experience,and a platform for young players to hone their skills. It’s also a fantastic way to foster a love for the game that can last a lifetime.
Precisely! We hear about the importance of grassroots advancement constantly. What specific skills or attributes do you believe are most essential for players this young to focus on at this stage of their careers?
Hakan Demir: At the U14 level,it’s about mastering the basics: dribbling,passing,shooting,and defense. But beyond the technicals, it’s about instilling a strong work ethic, teamwork, and respect for the game. These are the foundations for success both on and off the court.

Hakan Demir: Enjoy the process! Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, learn from them, and never stop pushing yourselves. Surround yourselves with supportive coaches and teammates, and most importantly, have fun!
