## Chiefs’ Kelce Yearns for Bengals Showdown in Playoffs

The Chiefs’ loss, coupled with other results, eliminated Cincinnati from playoff contention. [[2]]
While some might speculate that the chiefs intentionally threw the game to avoid a tough matchup with the Bengals, Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce expressed his disappointment at Cincinnati’s absence from the postseason. Kelce, known for his competitive spirit, stated on his podcast, *New Heights*, that he relishes facing the best teams and woudl have welcomed a playoff clash with the Bengals.
“I’m not scared of anyone,” Kelce declared. “I wanted them (the Bengals) in the playoffs. I want to beat each team, one by one, like it’s Mortal Kombat. Give me the best teams, AFC, NFC, give me all of them. I will go over each one of them giving my best effort.”
The Chiefs and Bengals have a recent history of intense playoff battles. In the 2020s alone, they’ve met twice in the postseason, with each team claiming a victory. The Bengals triumphed in the 2021 AFC Championship Game, only to fall to the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LVI. The following year, the Chiefs avenged their loss, advancing to Super Bowl LVII and securing their third championship title against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Kelce’s desire for a Bengals playoff matchup highlights the competitive fire that drives him and the Chiefs. He acknowledges the Bengals’ talent and sees them as a worthy opponent.
“I love competing against the greatest,” Kelce explained. “The Bengals were a fun team to watch towards the end of the season. It’s a shame they didn’t make the playoffs, because it would have made the playoffs a lot crazier and much more fun.”
The Chiefs’ regular season victory over the Bengals, a nail-biting 18-17 win sealed by Harrison Butker’s last-second 51-yard field goal, further emphasizes the competitive nature of their rivalry.
Travis Kelce: “Bring on the Best” – An Exclusive Interview
Welcome back, football fans! Today we have the pleasure of welcoming Kansas City chiefs’ tight end, Travis Kelce, to the show! Travis, thanks for joining us.
Travis Kelce: Thanks for having me! Always a pleasure to talk football.
Let’s dive straight into it. You recently expressed your disappointment that the Bengals didn’t make the playoffs this year. Now, some might say it’s understandable for a player to be happy seeing a strong rival falter. Your comments seemed to surprise many. What’s behind that competitive fire?
Travis kelce: Look, ultimately, I love playing against the best. The Bengals are a great team, and joe Burrow is an incredible quarterback.I want to test myself against the best, week in and week out. Playoff football is about facing those ultimate challenges, and I thrive on that pressure.
You mentioned competing “like it’s Mortal kombat,” facing teams one-by-one. Is that a mentality you bring into every game, no matter the opponent?
Travis Kelce: Absolutely. I approach every game with that same intensity. Every opponent is a test, an opportunity to prove yourself. Whether it’s the Bengals, the bills, or even a team fighting for thier playoff lives, I give it my all. that’s how you build a winning culture, that’s how champions are made.
The Bengals and Chiefs have battled it out in some epic playoff matchups in recent years. The 2021 AFC Championship game, the 2022 AFC Championship… it’s almost poetic that you guys keep crossing paths. What makes this rivalry so intense?
travis Kelce: It’s a combination of factors. We’re both contenders, both teams with Super Bowl aspirations. We’ve had some incredibly close games, down-to-the-wire finishes. That creates a natural rivalry, a respect for each other’s abilities mixed with that burning desire to come out on top.
With the Bengals absent this year, the AFC playoff picture is definitely wide open.Who do you see as the biggest challenge for the Chiefs on the road to Super bowl LVIII?
Travis Kelce: It’s far too early to say. Every team in the playoffs is risky. The Bills, the jaguars, the Ravens… they all have the potential to make a deep run. We have to focus on ourselves, play our game, and let the chips fall where they may.
Travis, a message for the Chiefs fans?
Travis Kelce: Keep the energy high, Arrowhead! We need your roar, your passion every step of the way. We’re coming for that Lombardi Trophy, and we need you with us all the way.
A big thank you to Travis Kelce for his time and insights. What are your thoughts on the Chiefs’ playoff hopes? Let us know in the comments below!
