Holiday periods frequently enough leave Brabrandhallen quiet, wiht Café BIF shut down. ⁢To inject energy ⁤into the ⁣space, Brabrand IF Badminton introduced an innovative concept during the Christmas break: street badminton, which ⁤turned out to be a resounding success.

“Our goal⁤ was to breathe life into Brabrandhallen,‍ so ⁤we experimented with an extended‌ training session that included ⁢meals during the autumn break,” explains Dan Kaihøj from Brabrand IF Badminton.

The idea of “street badminton” emerged during a conversation ‌with ⁣one of the coaches, paving the way for a ⁤fresh initiative over⁢ the Christmas holidays:

“We organized it quickly during⁢ the Christmas ‍break. The ‌challenge was to gather 100 ⁣empty ball tubes and drums to‍ set the right vibe, along with creating a ⁢VIP lounge, providing snacks, soft drinks, and more,” ‌Dan Kaihøj elaborates.

Two⁣ coaches took charge of the event, which ⁣featured a three-hour tournament followed by a‍ meal and relaxation in the fireplace room.

“We⁣ weren’t entirely sure‌ what to expect or how many ‍participants would ⁤show up. Surprisingly, 42 players joined, including participants from TST and Galten, despite the short one-week registration window. This ⁣success has us thinking about doing it again,”⁢ he ‌adds.

“Café BIF supported ⁢the initiative by staying open exclusively for our event, which we deeply appreciate.”

With numerous props and ⁣ball tubes⁤ scattered everywhere, the hall was a mess just ‍three minutes before the event concluded, suggesting a lot of cleanup work for the parents. However, within minutes, the players had tidied up ‍the⁢ space themselves. “The badminton players took obligation ‍and⁢ left the hall spotless,” ‌Dan Kaihøj notes with pride.

Reviving the Tradition‍ of Club Trips

Many of ⁢the club’s athletes frequently travel on weekends to compete ‌in individual tournaments, and BIF Badminton organizes one or two annual events.⁢ This year, the club has⁣ made a concerted effort to⁢ revive the tradition of hosting at least one group trip for its members.

“Finding a‌ single tournament that accommodates ‌all members on the⁤ same day proved challenging. ‌As a solution, we arranged a trip⁣ in January for our ⁤U9-U15 players, with another ‌planned for April or May ⁢in the local area for U17 and U19 participants,” explains Dan Kaihøj.

A Day of Competition and Camaraderie

On January ⁤18, 24 young players from the U9-U15 categories traveled to ⁣Søften, proudly wearing⁤ the ‌iconic blue ⁢Brabrand jerseys. They were ‌accompanied by two youth coaches, and the club’s miniton coach also⁤ joined them⁢ later ‍in the day.

“While⁢ we don’t focus solely on results, it was extraordinary to see several Brabrand ‍players reach the finals, even competing against their own teammates,” Dan⁤ Kaihøj adds.

Team Spirit Shines Through

The Brabrand IF Badminton team tournament⁤ featured 10 teams in total—7 in the youth category and 3 in the senior division. The event highlighted the growing skills and enthusiasm of the players, a testament to their dedication and‌ training.

“It’s‌ incredibly‍ rewarding to witness so ‌many players enjoying the ‌game and thriving during ‍team matches. You can⁢ clearly see their ⁢progress ⁢and the joy they derive from ⁣the sport,” says Jesper ⁢Richardt, chairman of Brabrand IF Badminton.

We organized it quickly, gathering 100 empty ball tubes and drums to set the vibe, along with a VIP lounge, snacks, and soft drinks. It was all about ‌creating a unique experience that would bring players together in a relaxed, ⁢festive atmosphere.
