The Triscele Christian Workers Movement of Palermo recently celebrated the resounding success of their “Social Sport: Inclusion and Enhancement” project. This initiative, focused on leveraging the power of sport to foster inclusion and shared experiences, effectively broke down social barriers by actively engaging young people in a variety of physical activities.
Over a six-month period, 28 participants embraced the program’s diverse offerings. Approximately 12 children honed their skills on the table tennis court, while 16 others participated in physical activity and Judo courses. The program culminated on December 20, 2024, leaving a lasting impact on all involved.
Chiara Gennuso, the regional youth manager for MCL, expressed immense satisfaction with the project’s outcomes. “The results have been truly remarkable, not onyl for our partners – asd Radiosa, Nova Nippon Club, and Associazione Doniamo un sorriso Smile Live – but also for the children themselves,” she stated.The project’s success can be attributed to the dedication of several key individuals. Federal instructors like Marco Coppola (Judo), Sabrina leone (physical activity), and Marco Cacioli (table tennis) expertly guided the sporting activities. Graziella Graci of the “Doniamo un Sorriso Smile Live” association played a crucial role in facilitating the participation of 15 minors from two local family homes.
Beyond physical development, the project fostered meaningful personal growth among participants. Improved body awareness, enhanced movement control, and increased joint mobility, physical resistance, and agility were just some of the tangible benefits.”Achieving even small sporting goals boosted the children’s sense of competence and self-esteem,” Gennuso observed. “Each child experienced personal success, nonetheless of their individual challenges.”
