Interview wiht Jacques Sibéril: Insights on teh BC Rostrenen vs. Volant Ayrois Showdown

Moderator: Welcome, everyone, to another exciting edition of Sports Uncovered. Today, we’re diving deep into the upcoming clash between BC Rostrenen and Volant Ayrois in the Top 12 Interclubs. Joining us is Jacques Sibéril, president of BC Rostrenen, who’s here to share his thoughts on this highly anticipated match. Jacques, thanks for being here.

Jacques Sibéril: Thank you for having me. It’s always a pleasure to discuss the sport I’m so passionate about.

Moderator: Let’s jump right in. This Saturday, BC Rostrenen faces Volant Ayrois in the opening match of the return group stage. The teams last met in September, where Rostrenen narrowly missed a draw. What’s your take on that match, and how has your team prepared for the rematch?

jacques Sibéril: That September match was a tough one. We came close, but Maryna Ylinska’s loss in the third set at 20-22 sealed it for Volant Ayrois. It was a hard-fought battle, and it taught us a lot about our opponents. This time, we’re focusing on our strengths and ensuring our lineup is optimized. Volant Ayrois is a strong team, and if they field their best players, we’ll have our work cut out for us.but we’re ready.

Moderator: Speaking of lineups, Volant Ayrois is currently second in the standings, just three points behind Chambly. They’ve had some impressive results, including draws against Chambly and Aix Université Club. How do you plan to counter their momentum?

Jacques Sibéril: Volant Ayrois is undoubtedly a formidable opponent, and their recent performances prove that. Our strategy is to leverage our key players, especially our international recruits. Xue fei, for example, has competed against top-tier players globally. We’ve also strengthened our roster with Kien Hwa King and Ruiwen Yang, who’s fresh off a victory in Meylan. These players bring a level of skill and experience that elevates our game.

Moderator: There’s been some debate about the reliance on foreign players in the Top 12. You’ve mentioned that without them, teams would be competing at a regional level. Can you elaborate on that?

Jacques Sibéril: Absolutely. The reality is that the Top 12 is a national stage, and the level of competition is incredibly high. International players bring a wealth of experience and skill that pushes the entire league forward. Yes, there’s some criticism about the heavy reliance on foreign talent, but every team in the Top 12 does the same. It’s a competitive surroundings, and we’re all striving to put the best possible lineup on the court.

Moderator: That’s a valid point. Speaking of competition, how do you manage the challenges of juggling multiple contracts and finalizing your lineup at the last minute?

Jacques Sibéril: It’s one of the biggest challenges we face.Players often have multiple offers, and they naturally gravitate toward the highest bidder. It’s a constant balancing act, and sometimes we’re finalizing our lineup right up to the last minute. But that’s the nature of the game, and we’ve learned to adapt. Our fans sometimes question the process, but I remind them that this is what it takes to compete at this level.

Moderator: Let’s talk about Ruiwen Yang’s recent victory in Meylan. How important is that for the team’s confidence heading into this match?

Jacques Sibéril: Ruiwen’s win was a massive boost for us. Competing in the elite circuit stage and securing a straight-sets victory over a player like Saifi Rizka Nurhidayah from Mulhouse is no small feat. It’s a testament to her skill and determination. Having players like Ruiwen and Xue Fei in top form gives us a lot of confidence going into this match.

Moderator: Final question, Jacques. What’s your message to the fans ahead of this showdown?

Jacques sibéril: To our fans, I say this: We’re ready, and we’re fighting for you. this is a crucial match for us, and we’re going to give it everything we’ve got. Your support means the world to us, and we’re looking forward to seeing you at the court on Saturday. Let’s make it a night to remember.

Moderator: Thank you, jacques, for your insights and for taking the time to chat with us. This is sure to be an exciting match, and we can’t wait to see how it unfolds.
