Judo Giants Converge on Mittersill for Prestigious Training Camp
The Austrian Alps will once again echo with the sounds of throws and grappling as the renowned Olympic Training Camp (OTC) returns too Mittersill. from January [Insert Dates], over 848 judoka representing 44 nations will descend upon the sporthotel Kogler, transforming the tennis courts into a 1,500 square meter judo haven.
This annual event, a cornerstone of the judo calendar for over three decades, attracts not only Austria’s elite judoka but also a constellation of international stars. Among the luminaries gracing the mats this year are Olympic champions Marie Eve Gahie and Joan-Benjamin Gaba (France), Nora Gjakova and Distria Krasniqi (Kosovo), Hidayat Heydarov and Zelym Kotsoiev (Azerbaijan), Lukas Krpalek (Czech Republic), and Lasha Shavdatuashvili (Georgia).
Host nation Austria boasts a strong contingent of 115 athletes, including decorated judoka like two-time Olympic medalist Michaela Polleres, Olympic fifth-place finisher Lubjana Piovesana, seventh-ranked World Cup competitor Bernd Fasching, and junior world champion Elena Dengg.
With 25 intensive training sessions scheduled, the OTC Mittersill offers an unparalleled possibility for judoka to hone their skills and prepare for the upcoming competitive season.

Adding to the star power, the coaching staff also features a roster of judo legends. Among them is Shohei Ono, a Japanese judo icon. At just 32 years old, Ono boasts an remarkable resume, including two Olympic gold medals and three world championships in the under 73 kg category. unbeaten on the World Tour for an astonishing 79 months, Ono brings his expertise to Mittersill as coach of the Scottish team, marking his debut as a trainer.
