Novara Judo Athletes shine at Prestigious “Natale Judo Camp”
A group of talented judo athletes from Novara recently participated in the renowned “Natale Judo Camp” held in Bardonecchia from December 26th to 29th. Simon Vestali, Gabriele Martinone, Simone Di Giorgio, Mathieu and Aristid Sempio, and Mattia Manuel Moneta represented their city with distinction at this prestigious event organized by Akyiama Settimo in partnership with the CR Fijlkam Piedmont.
The camp boasted an impressive lineup of instructors, including Christa Deguchi, the reigning Olympic champion and a two-time world champion (2023 and 2019).Joining Deguchi were Tommy Marcias, the 2021 vice world champion and 2019 European champion, and Kyle Reyes, the 2022 and 2021 vice world champion and Pan American champion.
Over 1,000 athletes from across Europe, including Italy, France, Israel, Germany, Switzerland, and Cyprus, converged on Bardonecchia for this extraordinary training chance. The Novara athletes had the invaluable chance to hone their skills alongside some of the world’s best judoka, receiving expert guidance from Olympic-caliber coaches. This immersive experience undoubtedly elevated their technical prowess.
Interestingly,this novara contingent had the privilege of meeting Olympic champion Alice Bellandi,the victor in the 78 kg category at the Paris 2024 Games,just two months prior to the “Natale Judo Camp.”
Master Flavio Vestali, reflecting on the camp’s success, emphasized the positive feedback received. He highlighted the enduring strength of the “mountain-judo union,” which thrives on principles of collaboration, institution, and a shared sense of responsibility, both on and off the tatami.
Looking ahead, the Novara Judo Club is gearing up for the resumption of its baby judo courses for children aged 3 to 5 on Tuesday, January 7th at 5 pm. Master Vestali: The impact is immeasurable, truly. To have athletes of that caliber sharing their knowledge and experience is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for these young judokas. it’s not just about technique; it’s about understanding the mental discipline, the strategic thinking, the unwavering dedication that propels these champions to the top.

Master Vestali: Absolutely.
