DeMar, last night’s game against the Rockets was a nail-biter.You guys snagged the win, but it came down to the wire. Talk to us about the pressure in those final minutes.
demar DeRozan: Man, those close games are always a rollercoaster. Especially against a team like Houston with so much firepower. But that’s where experience comes in, you know? We stayed calm, executed our game plan, adn thankfully, we hit those crucial free throws.
Clutch free throw shooting definitely played a part. You were two-for-two from the line in the final minute. many consider you a clutch performer. Do you feel pressure in those high-stakes moments?
DeMar DeRozan: Pressure? Sure, there’s pressure. But I see it as an opportunity. To step up for your team, to make the play that helps you secure the win. It’s not just about making the shot—it’s about staying composed, trusting your instincts, and believing in yourself and your teammates.
That’s a great point about believing in your teammates. the Kings have been playing incredibly well lately. What’s been the key to this recent success?
demar DeRozan: We’ve all bought in. We trust Coach’s game plan, we play hard for each other, and we’re starting to understand each other’s strengths on the court.
Speaking of understanding strengths,Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had a monster game against Cleveland. 40 points in just three quarters! What’s your take on his performance and the Thunder’s recent dominance?
DeMar DeRozan: Shai’s a special talent. He’s got that explosive scoring ability, and he’s only getting better.The Thunder are young and hungry, and they’re definitely making noise in the Western Conference.
It’s clear that the West is stacked with talent this year. Do you think the clippers are the team to beat? Their recent win streak is notable.
DeMar DeRozan: Absolutely. The clippers are a force to be reckoned with. They’ve got a veteran core, a hunger to win, and they’re playing extremely well.
We’ve seen some unbelievable performances across the league tonight. From Booker’s 37 points against the Wizards to Myles Turner sinking eight threes against the Pistons, the talent in the NBA is undeniable. As a player, how does witnessing these incredible displays motivate you?
DeMar DeRozan: It pushes me to be better. It’s a reminder that every night you step on the court, you have to bring your A-game. There are so many talented players in this league, and we all want to leave our mark.
