FC Porto appears to have identified the ideal candidate to take over from Vítor Bruno. Contrary to earlier speculations linking the club to high-profile European managers like igor Tudor, Julen Lopetegui, or Xavi, the Portuguese giants are reportedly turning their attention to a rising star from Mexico.
As per reports from the Portuguese newspaper Record, FC Porto’s president, André Villas-Boas, has zeroed in on Martín Anselmi, the current head coach of Cruz Azul. The 39-year-old Argentine tactician has reportedly agreed to a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Portuguese club. His buyout clause, applicable only if he moves to a european team, is said to be under €5 million.
Anselmi’s coaching credentials are remarkable, boasting a Copa Sudamericana title (South America’s equivalent of the Europa League), a Recopa Sudamericana (akin to the european Super Cup), and domestic triumphs in Ecuador, including a league championship and a Super Cup, all achieved during his tenure with Independiente del Valle.
