Ultimately, a different path was chosen.on Monday,it was confirmed that Escobar and Cruz Azul mutually agreed to terminate his contract,officially ending his tenure with the Cementera team.Escobar’s time with Cruz Azul spanned from July 2019 to the end of 2024. During this period, he made 162 appearances, contributing 14 goals and 12 assists.He was instrumental in securing the club’s Ninth Liga MX title, a historic achievement for Cruz Azul.His trophy cabinet also includes the Supercopa MX 2019, the Champion of champions 2022, and the League Super Cup 2022.
The early termination of Escobar’s contract will cost Cruz Azul approximately 7.5 million Mexican pesos, equivalent to around 375 thousand dollars. This financial implication underscores the complexities of player contracts and the decisions clubs face during transfer windows.

Pavel Pardo: Definitely a combination of factors. While the financial aspect is undeniable, you also have to consider team dynamics. Manager Martín Anselmi clearly had different plans for Clausura 2025.
It’s about building a squad that can compete for the championship. Sometimes, tough decisions have to be made, even if it means parting ways with a player like Escobar who has given so much to the club.
