České Budějovice has secured its second winter signing with the arrival of creative midfielder Filip Havelka (27). The North Bohemian club,Teplice, had previously lost interest in the player, but Havelka has now committed to Dynamo with a contract extending until the summer of 2026.
“While the team’s current position in the league table isn’t ideal, I see this as an exciting challenge. My goal is to contribute to Dynamo’s resurgence and help the team regain its competitive edge,” Havelka stated on the club’s official website.
Havelka is no stranger to the Bohemian football scene. Having spent three years on loan from Sparta Prague between 2018 and 2021, he made 71 appearances for the club. “Returning to a familiar and welcoming environment feels great. I’m excited to be back,” he remarked.
“I’ve worked with Filip during his previous stint at Dynamo. He was a consistent presence in the lineup, brings extensive league experience, and is a product of Sparta’s renowned academy. His quality has been proven in the league, and he fits the profile we were seeking to replace Marcel Čermák (26),” explained Dynamo’s head coach, Jiří Lerch.
This signing marks Dynamo’s second winter acquisition, following the addition of Malian defender Mamadou Koné (27) from Táborsko.

Moderator: Welcome, everyone, to another exciting edition of Sports Insights! Today, we’re thrilled to have Dynamo České Budějovice’s head coach, Jiří Lerch, joining us to discuss the club’s recent winter signings, notably the return of creative midfielder filip Havelka. Coach Lerch, thank you for taking the time to speak with us.
Jiří Lerch: Thank you for having me. It’s always a pleasure to share insights about our team and our plans for the future.
Moderator: Let’s dive right in. Dynamo has just secured its second winter signing with the arrival of Filip Havelka. What dose his return mean for the team, especially given his previous stint with the club?
jiří Lerch: Filip’s return is a notable boost for us. He’s a player who knows the club well, having spent three years here on loan from sparta Prague. During that time, he made 71 appearances and was a consistent presence in the lineup.his experience in the league and his technical ability make him a perfect fit for our current needs.
Moderator: Havelka mentioned that he sees this as an exciting challenge, despite Dynamo’s current position in the league table.Do you think his optimism is justified, and how do you plan to leverage his skills to improve the team’s performance?
Jiří Lerch: Absolutely. Filip’s optimism is well-founded. He’s a player who thrives under pressure and has a proven track record in the league. Our goal is to use his creativity and vision in midfield to create more scoring opportunities and stabilize our gameplay. His familiarity with the club and the league will also help him integrate quickly, which is crucial at this stage of the season.
Moderator: You’ve also mentioned that Havelka fits the profile to replace Marcel Čermák,who left the team. Can you elaborate on how Havelka’s style differs from Čermák’s, and what specific qualities he brings to the table?
Jiří Lerch: Marcel was a fantastic player for us, but Filip brings a different dynamic. He’s more of a playmaker, someone who can control the tempo of the game and create chances for others. While Marcel was more of a box-to-box midfielder, Filip’s ability to read the game and deliver precise passes adds a new dimension to our midfield.

Jiří Lerch: Mamadou and Filip are both experienced players who bring different strengths to the team. Mamadou’s defensive solidity and physical presence will help us shore up the backline, while Filip’s creativity will enhance our attacking options. together, they provide a balance that we’ve been missing, and I’m confident they’ll help us climb the league table.
Moderator: let’s shift gears a bit. Havelka is a product of Sparta Prague’s renowned academy. how do you think his upbringing in such a prestigious system has shaped his career, and what lessons can young players take from his journey?
Jiří Lerch: Sparta’s academy is one of the best in the country, and Filip’s time there undoubtedly played a huge role in his development. The academy emphasizes technical skills, tactical awareness, and mental toughness—qualities that Filip embodies. For young players, his journey is a testament to the importance of hard work, patience, and seizing opportunities when they come.
