westbrick No More? A Conversation with Charles Barkley
Welcome back, hoops fans! Today, we’ve got a real treat for you. Joining us is none other then Sir Charles himself, Hall of Famer and NBA legend, Charles Barkley.
Charles, thanks for taking the time.
Charles: Always happy to be here, man. Let’s talk some ball.
Now, Charles, you’ve never been one to mince words, so tell us, what do you make of this Russ rejuvenation in Denver? 15 and 8? Leading the Nuggets to wins against tough teams?
Charles: (chuckles) Well, you no I haven’t always been Russ’s biggest fan. “Westbrick” jokes aside, sometimes I felt he wasn’t using his talents the right way.
But look, gotta give credit where it’s due. He’s fittin’ in with the Nuggets like a glove. Jokic? They’re playing like some European twin tower magic out there. I ain’t gonna lie, seeing those two balling together,it’s remarkable.
That partnership with Jokic is something else. Do you see that lasting, Charles? Can two guys known for their triple-double tendencies truly thrive alongside each other?
Charles: That’s the big question, ain’t it? Listen, Jokic is a once-in-a-generation talent.Russ has always been a bull in a china shop, you know, powerful, explosive. Can they coexist long-term? Time will tell. But so far, it’s working. Nuggets are looking dangerous, man, dangerous.
Let’s talk about another team looking to make noise—the Chicago Bulls. Zach LaVine isScorching hot, averaging 33 over his last six. It’s unbelievable! But with those stats comes trade rumors. Think the Bulls should move him, Charles?
Charles: Ah, Zach. Great scorer, no doubt about it. But he’s not the guy who’ll lead you to a championship alone. If the Bulls can get a haul for him, a package that REALLY bolsters the team, maybe it’s worth considering.
But it’s a gamble. You’re losing your best scorer. What’s the plan if they trade him, man? They got all thes role players, but where’s the alpha dog?
Hard to argue with that.
Now, over in Philly, things aren’t looking so luminous. Embiid’s out, Paul George is struggling. That 11th seed in the East is looking precarious. What’s next for the Sixers, Charles?
Charles: ugh, man, Philly. They’re a mess.Embiid’s injury always hurts, but George gotta step up.
Look at the Nets, they’re doing it without KD.
Sixers need more than Cam Johnson and Tobias Harris. Come playoff time, they’re gonna get exposed.
As always, Charles, your honesty is refreshing. Now, let’s get our readers involved.
Rhetorical question alert, folks! should the Bulls hold onto Zach LaVine, or pull the trigger on a trade to rebuild around DeRozan?
Let us know your thoughts and join the conversation in the comments below!
And thanks for joining us, Charles. Always a pleasure.
Charles: Anytime, man, anytime.
