The Boston Celtics closed out the year wiht a resounding 125-71 victory over the struggling Toronto Raptors on tuesday. Jayson tatum led the charge for Boston, erupting for 18 of his 23 points in a dominant third quarter performance.
This loss marked the 11th consecutive defeat for the Raptors, who have surrendered at least 125 points in each of their last four games. The Celtics’ offensive onslaught in the third quarter was particularly devastating, outscoring Toronto 45-18 while connecting on an impressive 10 out of 12 three-point attempts.
Beyond Tatum’s brilliance, the Celtics received contributions from across the roster.Jrue Holiday, returning from a three-game absence due to a right shoulder injury, chipped in 14 points. Payton Pritchard led the bench with 19 points, while Derrick White and Sam Hauser added 16 and 12 points respectively. Jaylen Brown rounded out the scoring with 12 points and nine rebounds. For the Raptors, who finished December with a dismal 2-11 record, Scottie Barnes provided a glimmer of hope with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Jakob Poeltl was a force on the boards, grabbing 13 rebounds.Quebec native Chris Boucher contributed seven points and two rebounds in 14 minutes of action.Toronto’s struggles were evident from the outset,as they committed 12 turnovers and shot a paltry 29.5% (13 of 44) from the field in the first half. They were unable to recover from this early deficit.
The Raptors will look to turn things around in the new year when they host the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday.

The Boston Celtics delivered a ruthless statement on Tuesday night, dismantling the Toronto Raptors in a 125-71 blowout. This loss marks the Raptors’ 11th straight defeat, leaving fans and analysts alike pondering the team’s future.
Joining me today to dissect this lopsided affair is three-time NBA champion and renowned analyst, James Worthy.

James, watching that Celtics performance, it’s hard not to be impressed by their firepower. Jayson Tatum’s third quarter was particularly devastating. What stood out to you about Boston’s game?
James Worthy: The Celtics where clinical. tatum was in a zone, and when a guy like that is hitting shots like that, it’s tough for any team to keep up. But it wasn’t just Tatum. The ball movement was crisp, everyone was contributing. They looked like a well-oiled machine.

The contrast couldn’t have been starker with the Raptors, who struggled mightily, particularly jaded in that first half. Is this 11-game skid a sign of something more serious, or is it just a rough patch?
James Worthy: this is concerning, no doubt. Eleven straight losses is never a good sign. The Raptors have some young talent, but they’re lacking consistency. They need to find a way to get back to playing tough, physical defense and establish an offensive identity.

Scottie Barnes had a decent stat line, but Toronto’s overall performance was lacking. Do you see potential in this young core, or dose the team need to make some meaningful changes?
James Worthy: Barnes definitely shows flashes of brilliance, but he needs to be more consistent. It’s hard to evaluate this team without Pascal Siakam, who is a vital piece of their offense.
the Raptors are at a crossroads. They have young players with potential, but they need to find a way to put it all together. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some roster moves in the near future.

Engaging outlook, James. It’s clearly a pivotal moment for the Raptors.
Moving on, the Celtics’ victory capped off a busy night in the NBA. Giannis Antetokounmpo was a force of nature against the Pacers, while other games saw exciting performances across the league. What other games caught your eye tonight?
James Worthy: The Bucks game was a classic.Giannis is unstoppable when he’s in that mode. It’s always enjoyable to watch a player of his caliber dominate. I’m also keeping an eye on the Clippers and the Timberwolves, both teams with the potential to make some noise this season.
