Mondovì. the Cairese Baseball season kicks off with the under-12 team diving into the Western League’s indoor championship, an inter-regional event designed to introduce young players to the sport through simplified rules. The Valbormides team,composed of mostly inexperienced players transitioning from minibaseball,made their debut in Mondovì with enthusiasm and determination.
The day was filled with memorable moments and breakthroughs. Despite the team’s limited experience, the coaching staff pushed for this opportunity, and the results were overwhelmingly positive. Standout performances included Quattrocchi Matteo at first base and Veglia Nicolò at shortstop. Behind the plate, Pereira Cavalaro Lorenzo and Quattrocchi Lorenzo showcased their skills, while Ghione Leonardo and Nicoletti Simplicio De Morales Augusto managed the infield. The outfield was secured by Baccino Nicola,Hachani Mohamed Maher,and Barricella Nicolò,with Pacenza Azzurra stepping up as the utility player of the day.
The Avigliana Rebels emerged as the dominant force, sweeping all their matches, followed by the Rebelstar, Mondovì Blue Jays, and Cairese.Cairese’s victory over the JFK Mondovì Roosters helped them climb the standings. The team now looks forward to their next challenge in Turin on Sunday, February 9.
In addition to the league action, Aiace Tommaso, a rising star of Baseball Cairese, attended the 3rd Effelab Weekend Hitting in Bologna.This intensive batting clinic, led by Italian baseball legend Claudio Liverziani and the Fortitudo Baseball youth staff, provided invaluable technical and motivational insights for the young athlete.
