Ahn se-young triumphed over Indonesia’s Gregoria Marista Tonjung (World No. 5) with a decisive 2-0 win (21-19,21-16).
This match marked their second encounter since the 2024 Paris Olympics women’s singles semifinals in August last year. During their Olympic clash, Tonjung secured the first set, but Ahn Se-young rallied to claim the next two, ultimately winning 2-1 and securing the gold medal. This time, Ahn Se-young dominated from start to finish, not dropping a single set.
After a tightly contested first set, Ahn Se-young clinched the second set with four consecutive points at 14-14. Despite Tonjung’s relentless efforts, breaking through Ahn Se-young’s defenses proved too challenging.
