Mr. Kaufmanis took relatively unknown young players and molded them into a force to be reckoned with, winning countless regional championships and consistently challenging for national titles.
That sustained period of excellence wasn’t just about wins and losses; it instilled a deep sense of pride and belief in the city’s basketball program.
We saw that belief echoed even in the foreign Players coming to play in Valmiera during my time, they would always hear about the legacy of Kaufmanis.
