Peru: A Rising Star in the World of Sports
Peru has firmly established itself as a leading sports destination in the Americas, hosting an extraordinary array of events throughout 2024. These included the Junior Bowling World Cup, the Senior Saber world Cup, the U17 World Weightlifting Championships, the Junior World Artistic Swimming Championships, the Judo Cadet World Cup, the U17 Women’s Volleyball World Cup, the World Athletics U20 Championships Lima 2024, and the Foil World Cup.
In a remarkable feat, Peru together hosted four World cups in august. The U17 Volleyball World Cup took place in Villa El Salvador, while the Athletics, Artistic Swimming, and Judo World Cups were held at the National Sports Village (Videna).
Adding to its growing list of achievements, Peru secured a historic milestone by becoming the first South American nation to receive international certification from the International Cyclists’ Union (UCI) as a world High Performance Center for cycling.
The success of Peru’s sporting endeavors has also attracted international recognition, with Lima being selected as the host city for the 2027 Pan American Games.This decision underscores the city’s extraordinary infrastructure and its proven ability to deliver world-class sporting events.
